Tapatio Blanco Tequila
Heritage tequila at high proof. La Alteña Distillery was founded in 1937 by Don Felipe Camarena in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco; his grandson Carlos Camarena now serves as master distiller. The production is stubbornly traditional: 100% estate-grown blue agave, slow-cooked in stone ovens, crushed by a traditional tahona wheel (fewer than 1% of tequila distilleries still use this method), fermented with wild yeast in open wood vats, and double-distilled as close to bottle strength as possible. A natural spring on the distillery grounds supplies the production water. Bottled at 55% ABV (110 proof)—the legal maximum.
