Stephane Ogier Saint Joseph Le Passage 2022

Serious northern Rhône Syrah from three ancient granite vineyard parcels on the steep slopes of Malleval. Thirty-year-old vines coax remarkable depth from decomposed granite soil, yielding wines of silky texture and peppery spice. Stéphane Ogier destemmed the fruit before fermenting in stainless steel, then aged one year in old oak to amplify red fruit perfume and minerality without oaky overlay. The 2022 balances ripe dark fruits with white pepper, licorice, and impressive length.
