Giuseppe Mascarello Langhe Freisa Toetto 2023
Freisa—Piedmont's 'other' red grape—from the Toetto vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, owned by the Mascarello family since 1987. Planted in 1989 on marl and brown clay soils. Freisa is an ancestral Piedmontese variety, spicy and tannic with a distinctive wild personality. Traditional submerged-cap fermentation for 15–20 days, matured in Slovenian oak then inert tanks, bottled two years after harvest. At Mascarello, even the 'minor' wines get the same traditional, uncompromising treatment.
