A single-vineyard Barolo from Monforte d'Alba—farmed without chemicals or pesticides by the Mascarello family. Santo Stefano di Perno was replanted in the late 1970s and 1980s after years of non-production. The Mascarello holding is approximately two-thirds of a hectare. Where Monprivato is elegant and haunting, Santo Stefano is earthier and more rustic, with the weight and structure typical of Monforte. Same traditional winemaking: extended maceration, old Slavonian botti, unfined and unfiltered.
