Coessens Champagne Brut Rose de Saignee Largillier 2022
This is not your garden-variety Champagne rosé. Jérôme Coessens tends a single three-hectare monopole of 35-year-old Pinot Noir vines in Champagne's Aube region and crafts just 3,000 bottles of this saignée rosé when conditions align. Made by traditional foot-crushing to coax every ounce of color and aroma from the skins, it pours a rich grenadine hue and bursts with red berries, cherry, and floral notes. The terroir beneath reveals Kimmeridgian marl—the same limestone found in Chablis—giving it the mineral precision that separates legends from the rest.
