Cesar Marquez Villegas 2023

After six years of experimentation, César Márquez releases his first expression from the Villegas paraje—a century-old Mencía field blend from Bierzo's sandy soils that favors elegant, transparent wines. Fermented with 30% whole clusters and wild yeasts in large oak vessels, then aged for a year in French oak barrels, this wine radiates floral intensity with rose petal, talc, and hints of pomegranate. The 2023 benefited from generous rainfall, resulting in remarkable freshness, ethereal precision, and a vibrant finish.
