Bedrock Contra Costa County Red Evangelho Vineyard Heritage 2022

Bedrock rescues history from the sandy soils of the Evangelho Vineyard, an 1890s-era Portuguese field blend that still thrives just miles from San Francisco Bay. Planted by Portuguese immigrants, these ancient vines yield a complex blend anchored by Zinfandel with Mataro, Carignan, Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir, Mission, Palomino, and even Clairette Blanche. Aged in foudres and demi-muids, it layers blueberries, blackberries, peppered salumi, and lilac over clay-textured tannins and a mineral-driven finish that speaks to terroir and time.
