If any Meursault vineyard deserves Grand Cru status, it's Perrières—named for the stone quarries (perrières) that once supplied building material for local villages. The thin, rocky soils with high limestone content produce wines of striking minerality and intensity, quite different from the rounder, silkier Genevrières. Charles Ballot's 2019 from this vineyard shows extra-wide flavor clarity with perfumed aromatics and a finish that expands in waves, longer and more persistent than the Genevrières.
